NEW YORK — One Direction have once again enlisted the help of Ed Sheeran for their still-in-the-works sophomore album.

The British singer/songwriter got a writing credit on 1D’s debut, Up All Night, and Sheeran assured us that the boy band has no plans to deviate from singing the love songs that have made them famous on both sides of the pond.

“I wrote the three tracks that I gave [them] … when I was 17 and they were on my hard drive for a long time,” he revealed to MTV News when we caught up with him on Tuesday right before he took the stage at Irving Plaza in New York City. “And then I gave them one song for their last album, and they came back and said, ‘Do you have any more?’ and I said, ‘Here’s a whole load. Take your pick.’ “
