One Direction are apparently going down a more rock route for their debut LP, with reports suggesting they have teamed up with punk-pop producer, Matt Squire.

According to The Sun, the boys – who came third on The X Factor last year – have been experimenting with different sounds and have been inspired by Squire to create a rock-influenced album.

Squire has previously worked with the likes of US rockers Good Charlotte and Panic! At The Disco, and is said to be using some of those techniques to create a rock hit for the One Direction lads.

A source told the tabloid: “There is one track called Nah Nah Nah that has excited execs at their label SyCo – the song could be the first single. It’s got more of a guitar influence than people expect.”

They added: “The lads aren’t going down the dance route and have been teamed with Matt – who made his name with punk acts but has recently branched out into pop too.”

We can’t wait to hear their new material…
