US Record Bosses Fight To Sign One Direction
7:45 AMVeraOne Direction are going Stateside, according to reports today.
After scoring the fastest-selling single of the year so far with ‘What Makes You Beautiful’, US record label chiefs are apparently desperate to get in on the action.
The Sun claims that the band’s manager Richard Griffiths will meet with industry top dogs tomorrow to see who will provide the best deal.
X Factor USA judge LA Reid is said to be keen to land the boys’ signatures for Epic Records, whilst RCA’s Peter Edge and Columbia chairman Rob Stringer are also reaching for their wallets.
The group release their second single in the UK next month, ahead of their debut album on November 21st.
Having a little less success is Matt Cardle, who trounced the boyband in last year’s X Factor final. In contrast to the boys’ and Cher Lloyd’s chart-topping success, his new single ‘Run For Your Life’ is clinging on at the tail end of the Top 5 in the latest midweek figures.
