ONE Direction whipper- snapper Harry Styles almost had to postpone boozy 18th birthday celebrations because of a flight to the US.
West Coast America is eight hours behind us, which means the lustrous-locked 1D-er would technically still be only 17 as he flies back in time to the States on February 1.
Harry told me: “We are on a plane to the US on my birthday.
“That means we’ll be going back in time so I stay 17.”
Fortunately Hazza need gasp no longer because I’ve checked with Virgin Atlantic, who reckon a wee tipple shouldn’t be a problem.
A spokesman confirmed: “Although he may go back in time travelling to the US, as he is 18 in the country where he boarded the flight, he will be fine to enjoy a drink on board.”
Which is good news considering the legal age drink limit in the US is 21.
Harry laughed: “I’ll just have to wait until I’m back home to party.”
Having successfully conquered the UK pop charts, 2012 promises to be the year One Direction crack the US.
Liam Payne, 18, told me: “We go on tour with an American band called Big Time Rush in February. They seem like great lads and we can’t wait.
“Mostly we can’t wait for hot weather to get a tan. We know America is tough so we want to work hard.”
The 11-date tour is One Direction’s first US live show but they already have an army of supporters waiting for them.
Irish hunk Niall Horan, 18, explained: “When we went before there were a lot of fans at the airport and at our hotel.
“They had come from all over the US.”\
Sounds like One Direction fever is catching on fast.
