One Direction add extra BIC date - on the first day of school
11:19 AMVeraTHERE’S good news and bad news for fans of the chart-topping boyband One Direction.
The good news – they’ve announced a second Bournemouth concert. The bad news – it’s at 2.30pm on the first day back at school.
The British-Irish group, who shot to fame on the television show The X Factor, sparked a huge rush for tickets when they announced they would play the BIC in the evening of Tuesday, January 3.
To meet the phenomenal demand, the boys agreed a special matinee concert on the same day – but that’s set to disappoint hundreds of young fans in Bournemouth and Dorset as it coincides with the first day of the spring term.
Richard Lee, marketing and promotions officer for the BIC and Pavilion, said: “This was flagged up to the promoter of the show by our entertainments team but they chose to proceed anyway. It was their decision.
“I think One Direction themselves are going on stage at 4pm which is after school, although clearly quite close to when schools finish.”
One Direction, aka Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, Liam Payne, Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson, will perform 21 concerts across England and Ireland.
Their first headline tour will see the band performing songs from their debut album, alongside some of their favourite cover versions.
Tickets for the new matinee show are set to go on sale today and will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.
